This term we have been focusing on the theme of Justice, inspired by the words of Proverbs 31:8–9:

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves… defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Together, we have been exploring what it means to live out justice in our school community and beyond, encouraging one another to think about how our words and actions can lift others up.
 
We are also delighted to share that preparations are well underway for our Carols in the Courtyard event. This is a brand new event with much anticipation, and we are excited to gather together as a community to celebrate the joy, hope, and light of the Christmas season.
 
As part of our commitment to justice and compassion, our Christmas Appeal this year will support Springbank Pantry. We will be collecting food items to help local families who may be experiencing difficulty during the winter months. Any donations, big or small, will make a real difference. More infomation on this to follow in the coming weeks.

This morning some of our Year 11 students had mock interviews with a range of volunteers from across the local community, including parents and employees from a range of businesses. Students practised their handshakes and tackled answering a range of questions before getting some feedback. Despite the nerves for some, they did really well! A second event in the new year will take place for the rest of year 11. We hope these events will help them to prepare for any college or apprenticeship interviews they may face in the coming months. Now that mocks have happened, Year 11 1:1s will resume to support students with next step decision-making and applications. Last week, 5 classes in Year 9 had a ‘post-16 options’ workshop with GROWS, the Gloucestershire partnership of colleges and universities. They learnt about the routes open to them and reflected on what might be most suited to them. This will be repeated for the rest of year 9 on the 2nd December. As many future choices have entry requirements, including GCSEs at certain grades, it’s important students consider their options now so they know what they are aiming for.
