EnrichmentCombined Cadet Force
(RAF Section)
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is a Ministry of Defence sponsored youth organisation based within schools across the United Kingdom. Its aim is to develop confidence, leadership, resilience, teamwork and self-discipline through a wide range of challenging and rewarding activities.
At the Academy, our contingent is focused on the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC). The RAF section of the CCF forms part of the wider RAF Air Cadets organisation and offers students exciting opportunities linked to aviation, aerospace, leadership and adventure training.
Open to students from Year 8 through to Year 13, the CCF provides a unique opportunity for young people to develop valuable life skills outside of the classroom in a safe, structured and supportive environment. Cadets take part in weekly training alongside a variety of additional activities, camps and events throughout the year.

Benefits for students
Participation in the CCF helps students build confidence, communication skills, independence and leadership ability. Cadets are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, work as part of a team and take responsibility for themselves and others. Many students find that the experience supports their personal development, academic studies and future career aspirations.
The CCF is not solely for students considering a career in the Armed Forces. The skills developed through cadet activities are highly transferable and valued in higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
A safe and inclusive environment
The welfare and safeguarding of cadets is a priority within the RAF Air Cadets organisation. Activities are supervised by trained adult volunteers and staff, with appropriate safety procedures and safeguarding measures in place.
Why join?
The CCF offers students the chance to:
-
Make new friends
-
Learn new skills
-
Build confidence and resilience
-
Experience activities not normally available in school
-
Represent the Academy at events and competitions
-
Challenge themselves in a supportive environment
For many students, the CCF becomes one of the most rewarding and memorable parts of school life.
