AlumniSuzzette Cornejo
After leaving ASA in 2021, where she studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and completed an EPQ in Astrophysics, Suzzette Cornejo went on to pursue her passion for science by graduating University of Nottingham with a Masters in Pharmacy. Suzzette is currently a trainee pharmacist completing her trainee year with a hospital/GP split. In 2026, she will sit the GPhC exam to officially qualify as a registered pharmacist.
Looking back on her time at ASA, Suzzette reflects on the role her teachers played in nurturing her interest in science. “I’ve enjoyed Biology ever since GCSEs (maybe not the Krebs cycle!), and I loved it even more when learning pharmacology. ASA also gave me access to external opportunities, such as online meetings with Russell Group universities, which really helped with my personal statement.”
Suzzette counts tutoring her own students among her proudest achievements so far. Inspired by her former teacher, Mr Parkinson, she has been able to guide her pupils to achieve top grades, even in a subject she doesn’t use in her day-to-day career. “Thanks to his influence, I’m now aiming to become both a clinical pharmacist and an academic,” she says.
For current ASA students considering a similar path, Suzzette offers clear advice:
“Stay curious and keep learning. Take any opportunity available – work experience, open days, summer placements. Real-world exposure is priceless.”
Suzzette’s journey is a brilliant example of where dedication, inspiration and a love of learning can lead. We are proud to celebrate her achievements and look forward to seeing what she does next.
